Oregon State Police (OSP), with the assistance of the Lincoln County Medical Examiner, are continuing the investigation to positively identify human remains found Wednesday morning on a rocky section of shore in the Cape Perpetua Scenic Area south of Yachats.
According to OSP Sergeant Justin McGladrey, on November 24, 2010 at approximately 11:58 a.m. two people walking on a trail west of Highway 101 near Cape Cove reported spotting a possible body on the rocks near the ocean. OSP and Yachats Fire & Rescue personnel responded to the scene, confirming the discovery of unidentified partial human remains that appear to have been in the ocean for an unknown extended time period.
The sex is unknown and no other information will be released pending positive identification.
