Two OSP Coos Bay Traffic Stops Lead to Three Arrests, Marijuana, Cash and Other Evidence

Three people were arrested during two separate Oregon State Police (OSP) traffic stops Tuesday south of Coos Bay during which marijuana, cash and other evidence was seized.
 
According to OSP Lieutenant Steve Smartt, on November 23, 2010 the first incident happened at approximately 2:30 p.m. when a trooper stopped a southbound 2008 Nissan Altima displaying Arizona license plates on Highway 101 near milepost 245 for failing to maintain a single lane of travel. The vehicle contained five occupants including driver JEFFREY CARL WATSON, age 32, from Prescott, Arizona.
 
Subsequent investigation during the traffic stop led to the discovery and seizure of over 4 lbs. of marijuana and approximately $4,000 cash in the car. Estimated value of the seized marijuana is $10,000.
 
WATSON was taken into custody and lodged in the Coos County Jail for Unlawful Possession, Distribution, and Manufacture of a Controlled Substance – Marijuana. The other four occupants were not arrested or cited.

The second incident happened at approximately 9:30 p.m. when a different trooper stopped a 1989 Toyota 4Runner displaying Washington license plates northbound on Highway 101 near milepost 238 for an equipment lighting violation. The vehicle contained two occupants identified as driver TODD B. CUMMINGS, age 24, from Kapaa (Kauai), Hawaii, and passenger JAMIE MARIE HABIG, age 30, from Princeville (Kauai), Hawaii.
 
Subsequent investigation during the traffic stop led to the discovery of over one ounce of marijuana, hashish, hashish oil, and cookies made with hash oil. Approximately $3,500 cash was also seized.
 
Both occupants were arrested and transported to the Coos County Jail for:
  • Unlawful Possession, Distribution, and Manufacture of a Controlled Substance – Marijuana
  • Unlawful Possession, Distribution, and Manufacture of a Controlled Substance – Hashish
