Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers are continuing the investigation into Thursday afternoon's fatal traffic crash along Interstate 5 about four miles south of the Highway 34 interchange that resulted in the death of an Albany-area woman.
On November 24, 2011 at approximately 1:30 p.m. a sport utility vehicle driven by TRACY EILENE DAVIS, age 37, from Albany, was southbound on Interstate 5 near milepost 224 when it collided into the rear of another vehicle containing two occupants. After impact, the sport utility vehicle traveled into the center median, rolled and came to rest on its wheels blocking both northbound lanes.
DAVIS was not using safety restraints and was ejected from the sport utility vehicle. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The two adult occupants of the other vehicle were using safety restraints and were not injured. They are identified as driver GARY W. BLANCHARD, age 62, and passenger MARLENE J. BLANCHARD, age 62, both from Corvallis.
The right northbound shoulder was used for vehicle traffic to get through the area northbound while OSP troopers investigated. All lanes were open at 3:35 p.m.
OSP troopers from the Albany Area Command office are continuing the investigation into the cause of the crash.
OSP troopers from the Springfield Area Command office, Linn County Sheriff's Office, Halsey-Shedd Fire Department and ODOT assisted at the scene.
