Oregon State Police (OSP) Fish & Wildlife Division is asking for the public's help to identify the person(s) responsible for unlawfully killing and wasting four swans found in a pond on private property south of Dufur in Wasco County. A reward of up to $250 is offered by the Oregon Hunters Association through the Turn-in-Poachers (TIP) program for any information leading to an arrest and conviction in this case.
According to OSP Senior Trooper Swede Pearson, four swans were found shot and killed in a pond on private property near Dufur Gap Road and Friend Road south of Dufur. Investigating troopers believe the swans were killed last week, possibly November 24 or 25. The suspect(s) made no effort to retrieve the swans and left them to waste.
Pearson said hunting swans is unlawful in Oregon during waterfowl seasons.
