Fatal Traffic Crash - Highway 101 south of Bandon

Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers are continuing the investigation with the Coos County Medical Examiner into the death of a 59-year old Brookings man found deceased inside an overturned pickup about two miles south of Bandon along Highway 101. The man's name is withheld pending next of kin notification, and a medical problem may have contributed to the crash and subsequent death.
According to OSP Trooper Tiffany Crutchfield, on December 5, 2009 at approximately 11:20 a.m. a Bandon police office spotted an overturned pickup off Highway 101 near milepost 277 with people around it. The pickup was in about four feet of water alongside the highway. Upon arrival of emergency personnel, a driver was confirmed deceased in the pickup that was northbound when it overturned in water bordering the highway.
OSP troopers from the Coos Bay Area Command office are continuing the investigation.
Bandon Fire Department and local emergency responders are assisting at the scene.
