(503) 731-3020 ext. 247
Preliminary information from Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers working between Portland and Eugene reported 9 DUII arrests Saturday, December 4th, between 6:00 a.m. and midnight as they focused enforcement efforts along Interstate 5 and roads in the Willamette Valley related to Saturday afternoon's Civil War football game in Corvallis. Please note that these reported DUII arrests may not have been associated with football-game related travel.
A brief breakdown of the 9 reported DUII arrests indicates five occurred in the Portland / Tualatin area, three in the Eugene / Springfield area, and one in Salem. The majority of these DUII arrests happened during afternoon and evening hours. There is no information of other major traffic-related incidents other than a few minor crashes and heavy congestion at this time.
During last year's Thursday night Civil War football game in Eugene, OSP troopers arrested 14 DUII drivers between 6:00 p.m. and 4:00 a.m.
Troopers working with local law enforcement agencies, the OSU Department of Public Safety, and security officials were busy inside the stadium. Eighty-one (81) people were ejected for various violations including possessing alcohol, being overly intoxicated or acting in a disruptive or obnoxious manner.
