Oregon State Police (OSP) Drug Enforcement Section detectives are continuing the investigation into the discovery of approximately 11 pounds of marijuana in a vehicle during a Thursday evening traffic stop north of Canyonville. One person is facing charges and additional arrests are anticipated.
On December 9, 2010 at approximately 6:00 p.m. an OSP trooper stopped a 2006 Honda Civic displaying Oregon license plates for a traffic violation northbound on Interstate 5 near milepost 102. The driver was identified as DONALD W. WRIGHT, age 58, from Gold Hill.
Subsequent investigation during the traffic stop led to the discovery of approximately 11 pounds of marijuana in the car's trunk. Estimated value of the seized marijuana is over $30,000.
WRIGHT was arrested and later cited to appear in Douglas County Circuit Court for Unlawful Possession and Delivery of Marijuana.
