Oregon State Police troopers are continuing the investigation into Saturday afternoon's fatal traffic crash on Interstate 84 near Huntington involving a passenger car and commercial vehicle.
On December 12, 2009 at approximately 12:31 p.m. a 1982 Ford four-door driven by JENNA LEE ULRICH, age 22, from Sammamish, Washington, was eastbound on Interstate 84 near milepost 339. ULRICH lost control and slid sideways into the center of the eastbound lanes where it was struck in the driver side by a trailing commercial truck.
ULRICH was pronounced deceased at the scene. Her 26-year old male passenger, THOMAS WAYNE STROPPEL from Seattle, received non-life threatening injuries and was transported by Huntington ambulance to Holy Rosary Hospital in Ontario.
The truck driver, LLOYD ADAM KNOBLICH, age 51, from Colville, Washington, was not injured.
All three were using safety restraints.
OSP troopers from the Baker City work site are continuing the investigation. ODOT and local emergency responders assisted at the scene. The eastbound lanes at the point of the crash were open to one lane during most of the investigation.
