Oregon State Police (OSP) is asking for the public's help to find stolen construction equipment and identify the person(s) responsible for the theft of a hydraulic excavator and attachment equipment this week from a construction site along Interstate 5 south of Wilsonville.
OSP was contacted December 15, 2011 by a representative of Carter & Company Inc, a bridge construction company out of Salem, reporting the theft of a Kobelco model 50 SR-3 hydraulic excavator and a Kent model F5 hydraulic breaker. The theft occurred from a construction site on the right side of the southbound lanes of Interstate 5 near milepost 282. The company believes the theft occurred between 4:00 a.m., Monday, December 12, and 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 14.
The person(s) responsible for stealing the hydraulic excavator, orange in color and valued at $39,000, had to bring a trailer to the site to load and remove it. The attachment hydraulic breaker, valued at $10,000, was next to the excavator and is used to break concrete.
Carter & Company Inc has been working at the site for over two weeks installing an overhead sign bridge for ODOT.
Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to call Trooper Will Brindza at (503) 731-3020 ext. 450.
Photographs are not of the actual stolen equipment but are similar in look.
