Pre Academy
Beginning April 27, 2008
Pre Academy initial indoctrination
On April 27, 2008 the Oregon State Police began a fifteen
member recruit class. This photo shows a part of their initial indoctrination. Greeting them is a seasoned Senior Trooper who commands attention and projects intimidation. To start their training, they must first get through him!
Swearing In CeremonyAfter they have entered the OSP Academy walls they are shown how to wear their uniforms and provided some brief instruction on marching. We have two Camp Staff members working with these recruits day and night with one goal, making Troopers. There is a Swearing In Ceremony on the very first day where the Superintendent of the Oregon State Police addresses the recruits. One photo shows our Superintendent swearing in the recruits. Badges await them signaling the start of their quest to become an Oregon State Trooper.

This Swearing In Ceremony allows families to walk freely and take pictures, and allows family to actually pin the badge on their recruit if they so choose. One photo shows the Superintendent helping a child pin the Oregon State Police badge on a recruit.
