Rural or urban…forest or grassland…high desert or sandy beach, our homes are vulnerable to wildfire. 
The Office of State Fire Marshal, the Oregon Department of Forestry, the Wildfire Structural Committee, the Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS) and the Federal Alliance for Safe Homes (FLASH) is rolling out the 2007 Wildfire Awareness campaign kit to be distributed to all the fire departments in the state.
The campaign stresses the use of fire-resistant building materials in the building, remodeling, and retrofitting of structures, in addition to using fire-resistant plants in landscaping and maintaining the property by removing debris, pruning trees and the clearing of vegetation or grass.   With today’s technology, homes can be designed, built and retrofitted to increase the chance they will survive a wildfire.
