Occupational Therapy Licensing Board

Friday, October 6 - OTLB Presentation at the OTAO Conference

The OT Licensing Board invited Shawn Phipps, AOTA Vice President to discuss Ethical dilemma's that licensee are facing.  The Board has experienced an increase in calls from therapists who are asked to do something they are not comfortable with, that violates the Code of Ethics and the administrative rules.

Takeaways:
It is your license on the line, feel empowered and stand up to facilities that ask you to do something unethical.
Stand up to bullying.
Reach out to a mentor / someone you trust and get help. OTLB does has a clinical advisor you can talk to if you need advice.
OTLB does not have jurisdiction over a facilty, only over the licensee.
You can report facility to CMS, who WILL investigate.
