About Us
Welcome to the Oregon Juvenile Justice Training Academy, part of OYA's Training and Development Unit.
The Oregon Juvenile Justice Training Academy (OJJTA) was established in 1994 as the training and development unit for the Oregon Youth Authority. We take pride in our role of implementing and tracking essential training for OYA staff and community partners. We provide not only in-house developed trainings but also collaborative training with vendors and partners. The training we facilitate is for new and veteran staff of all levels. Topics include safety, security, treatment, and leadership skills that address today’s issues for staff working with youth offender populations. We also provide on-going training on new and updated agency policies and rules.  If you work for state or local government, are an OYA employee, contracted provider or foster parent you are included in those eligible for our training.
Our Vision:
Using new and proven methodologies the Oregon Juvenile Justice Training Academy will continue to develop, facilitate, implement and evaluate trainings in order to continually improve and create an effective learning culture.
Mission Statement
The Mission of the Oregon Juvenile Justice Training Academy is to provide the most effective training methods to ensure juvenile justice workers have the information and skills to successfully perform their duties that support the mission of OYA.
