Thank You's to OYA Staff
Lily Caceres
I want you to know how much I appreciate Lily Caceres’assistance in navigating and setting up an appointment with the Mexican Consulate.  It was wonderful to have Lily’s help to facilitate the meeting.  Lily continues to work very hard at bridging gaps between systems like the consulate in Portland and OYA.  She assisted my youth in obtaining his Oregon I.D. and Mexican I.D.  I thought you should pass this information on to her supervisor to let her know she is very much appreciated.

Mary Hunter & Deanna Garcia
Hard work and going the extra distance in office coverage earns top marks for two support staff.
The Linn-Benton-Lincoln Parole/Probation Unit would like to recognize and thank Mary Hunter, Lane OYA Office Specialist 2, and Deanna Garcia, Marion OYA Office Specialist 2, for their ongoing coverage and assistance to our unit during times of clerical staff medical leave, temporary vacancy and job rotations.  Mary has provided on-site and remote coverage to our office on several occasions over the last 3 years, including stretches of consecutive months.   Deanna Garcia has also assisted our office with coverage, including a time when she was on a 6 month rotation to Marion OYA from the Linn office.  Both workers have done this while at the same time taking care of their assigned offices.  We appreciate their willingness, competence and fun personalities!

Response …"Thank you, thank you, thank you, Jim Hupp, you’re the best!"

Additional Comments: "Between Jim Denault and Jim Hupp,we couldn’t ask for better PPO’s.  I wouldn’t be nor my child would be where we are today without Jim Hupp."

Darth Watkins & Camp Florence
Director Jester received a letter of appreciation from a  Florence resident commending the special efforts of Watkins and his crew.
Please accept this letter as an Outstanding Job Recommendation . . . we moved to Florence full-time a year ago.  I have had the opportunity to employ/use members of the Camp Florence program on numerous occasions.  We want to take this opportunity to pass on our sincere THANKS for all the jobs completed by the work crews.  They have landscaped, cleared brush, spread aggregates, helped with block placement, built fences, and cleared downed trees.  All jobs have been done far exceeding our expectations.
Every now and then an event occurs that requires special accolades.  Please accept this letter in that regard.  We want to single out Supervisor Darth Watkins and his work crew.  Mr. Watkins displayed by far the best attitude, attention to detail, and can-do spirit of any State Employee I have ever dealt with.  Mr. Watkins trains his crew with life skills that can actually be used.  His patience in dealing with the different skill level of each individual crew members, his example of hard work, and getting his hands dirty right beside the crew members clearly demonstrated Mr. Watkins' dedication to the Camp Florence Program.  He lead by example, created a can-do mental picture for each crew member, and clearly displayed concern for the boys/men under his supervision.
The Oregon Youth Authority is lucky to have such a dedicated State Employee.  The boys/men he supervises are lucky to be on his crew.

Laura Storey
Steve Brinlee, OYA Foster Care Manager, shared a letter he recently received from a foster parent complimenting the work of Laura Storey.  Laura has been a Foster Home Certifier in the southern region for the last four years, and she is currently providing coverage for Multnomah County, where she relocated on July 1.
Dear Laura,
I am now re-certified and I believe this is because of you and your efforts that this process has moved among so quickly.  Laura, I will start by saying Thank You.  You do not cut any corners in your work, yet you get things done, I notice everything because this is important to me, the youths, their backgrounds and behaviors are challenging and deserve the best, if they are going to become productive members of the society, and while I am learning how to do all that is required of me, I have someone like you.  I say these things because I admire your work ethics, and I can say without a doubt that I am proud to be a member of your team of foster parents, and thank you also for letting me know you are just a phone call away.
