Visitation

OYA recognizes the importance of interaction between youth in its custody and family and members of the community. Such access allows youth to maintain positive relationships that can help with their rehabilitation and contribute to effective planning for their treatment needs.
  • Camp Florence has visitation daily from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • All visitors first must go through the OYA visitor approval process.
  • You must schedule your visit a minimum of 24 hours in advance. Please let us know sooner, if you are able.
  • To schedule, you may tell your youth when you plan to visit, and they will inform staff. You can also call 541-997-2076.

Testing Water for Lead

Starting in February 2017, the Oregon Youth Authority began testing the water at all of our facilities for lead and copper. Lead can be harmful to people's health, and we wanted to make sure all youth, staff, contractors, volunteers, and visitors are safe and healthy.

At Camp Florence, initial tests found one outlet with levels of lead and seven with levels of copper that were at or above the level where we take immediate action. We immediately took these outlets out of use for drinking and cooking. Our testing appears to indicate that the issues at Florence are related to the water pipes, which we plan to replace in summer 2018.
