Youth Authority Appoints New Eastern Oregon Youth Correctional Facility Superintendent
Salem OR – Oregon Youth Authority Director Robert Jester today announced that he has appointed James Nanson as Superintendent of the Eastern Oregon Youth Correctional Facility in Burns.  Nanson joined the staff of MacLaren Youth Correctional Facility in 1964 as a Group Life Coordinator.  He worked at MacLaren for 33 years, 29 as a Program Director, until his retirement in 1997.
Following his retirement Jim worked with OYA facilities in a consulting and project role.  He assisted with the re-opening of Eastern Oregon Youth Correctional Facility in 2003.  He also provided support and consult to staff and youth at Tillamook Youth Correctional Facility during its transition from youth accountability camp to a sex offender treatment program.
“Nanson’s decision to return to OYA is a great addition to our team.  He will temporarily work at RiverBend Transition Program in LaGrande before assuming his role at Eastern YCF, serving as Superintendent,” Jester said.  “He will join a team at Eastern Oregon YCF committed to quality service and evidence-based delivery.”
He assumed his duties on June 14,  2007.
