The Department of Veterans Affairs is working with Florida and other states to help Veterans make the transition from combat to college life. Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric K. Shinseki addressed educators and Veterans during a conference this week at the University of South Florida (USF) on the importance of programs that ease the transition from active duty to Veteran status.

Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric K. Shinseki announced the Department of Veterans Affairs will join with the Library of Congress to host a 'Veterans History Countdown' on the VA Web site - www.va.gov - featuring the oral histories of Veterans from every state and U.S. territory.

The Department of Defense has created a website for military personnel to apply for transfer of education benefits. (Currently the application may only be accessed with Internet Explorer.)
