Jennifer Cooperman - Bio

Jennifer Cooperman was appointed City Treasurer for the City of Portland in April, 2012. Previously, Ms. Cooperman was a Deputy Superintendent and Director of Policy at the New York State Insurance Department, Director of Policy at the New York State Banking Department, and a vice president in Mortgage Sales/Fixed Income Division and the Structured Finance/Residential Mortgage Group of Goldman Sachs, based first in Philadelphia and later in New York.  She began her career as a grain merchant and financial securities trader with Cargill, Inc in Minneapolis.

In addition to serving on the board of the Oregon 529 College Savings Network, Ms. Cooperman serves as Treasurer and Finance Committee Chair for the board of The International School, an independent language immersion elementary school in downtown Portland, and is a member of the Multnomah County Investment Advisory Board.  She is a past chair of Northwest Pilot Project, a non-profit based in downtown Portland.

Ms. Cooperman earned her AB in Economics from Brown University, and her MBA in Finance from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

She lives in Portland with her husband and two children.
