The state Chief Operating Officer, also the director of the Department of Administrative
Services (DAS), is charged with reviewing outdated systems, streamlining
departments and creating efficiencies and cost savings within state government.
Working in concert with other state agency leaders, the Office of the COO strives to achieve transformative, long-term change and develop an agile organization that is able to meet current and future challenges.
To fulfill this monumental task, the Office of the COO has coordinated the following work teams and statewide initiatives that cross jurisdictional and agency boundaries:
10-Year Plan for Oregon
a project to develop a new outcome-based budget in coordination with a
10-year sustainable budget framework.
an initiative to maximize the dollars that serve Oregonians.
Enterprise Leadership Team
agency leaders working together to guide change for state agencies.
Additional programs in the Office of the Chief Operating Officer include:
Office of Economic Analysis
Provides objective forecasts of the state's economy, revenue, population, corrections population, and Youth Authority population. These forecasts are used by the Governor, the Legislature, state agencies and the public.
Focuses on fiscal accountability and performance, and provides management with appraisals, analyses, and recommendations concerning the activities reviewed.
Provides coordination of legislative activities and guidance to agency staff that regularly work with the Governor's Office and Legislature.
Statewide Audit Advisory Committee
Promotes excellence and professional standards-based internal auditing services in state government. This committee serves in an advisory capacity to the Chief Operating Officer.
