What is internal audit?

The internal audit function is an independent, objective assurance and consulting activity designed to add value and improve the operations of the agency. The internal audit function focuses on fiscal accountability and performance, and provides management with appraisals, analyses, and recommendations concerning the activities reviewed.

Chief Audit Executive Council

The Chief Audit Executive Council (CAEC) exists to coordinate internal audit activities within state government to promote effectiveness. The CAEC serves as a collaborative group with the intent of sharing information to help promote coordination of internal audit activities between state agencies and the Department of Administrative Services.
