Summer ILL

Summer ILL for School Library Staff

When you borrow a book from the State Library’s Library and Information Science Collection, you are using interlibrary loan (ILL). Technically, ILL is a transaction between institutions. Because school staff are not consistently available to receive mail at their school during summer vacation and because ILLs cannot be mailed to home addresses, we have a summer ILL policy. You have three options:

  1. Make the request via your public library. Many public libraries include interlibrary loan information on their websites. Some charge a small fee for ILL.

  2. If you live near or in Salem, request the materials via email or phone (503-378-8800), and indicate that you would like to pick up items in person. Once you are notified that the items are ready, go to the Government Room on the 2nd floor of the State Library building. Either ring the doorbell outside of the Government Room or call 503-378-8800 to let staff know you are there. Staff are available between 8 am and 5 pm, Monday thru Friday.

  3. Or, wait until you are back in school, and request the item/s at that time.
