Aurora Ministries: Audio Bibles for the Blind

This organization offers one free copy of the Bible on cartridge in a variety of translations and languages to any registered Talking Books user.  Additional copies are available for a donation.

Blindskills, Inc., Publisher of DIALOGUE Magazine

The mission at Blindskills, Inc., is to build bridges of understanding by sharing information and resources with people of all ages who are blind or visually impaired, their families, and their communities.  Blindskills publishes DIALOGUE, a quarterly magazine primarily written by and for visually impaired people. Every issue includes tips on adapting to life with low vision, techniques for easier daily living, career interviews, recreation and sports, technology reviews, and descriptions of new products and services designed for people with visual impairments.

Digital Learn: Use a computer to do almost anything!

If you are new to computers, haven't used them for a while, are a little unsure and uncomfortable, or just need a bit of a refresher, Digital Learn has the tools to help you tackle technology at your own pace and gain the confidence you need to succeed.  Short tutorials teach you a variety of computer skills, including basics for Windows 8 and 10, email, Skype, internet privacy and scams, cloud storage, and more.

iBill Currency Reader

The iBill currency reader for United States bill notes is available to any and all blind or visually impaired citizens / legal residents of the United States directly from the Bureau of Engraving and Printing.  All qualified individuals interested in receiving a currency reader will need to complete and submit an application directly to the Bureau of Engraving and Printing.  Click this link to download an application, or call the Bureau of Engraving and Printing at 1-844-815-9388 and request a print copy of the application.

LDS Materials

The Church of Jesus Christ of Later-Day Saints provides their Scriptures, as well as Church magazines and manuals, on digital cartridges.  Scriptures are available for a small donation, and magazines are manuals are available on a subscription basis.

Tax Assistance & Accessible Forms

Hundreds of the most popular federal tax forms and publications are available for download from IRS.gov for sight impaired individuals. These products range from PDF tax forms to Braille formats, and are accessible using screen reading software, refreshable Braille displays and voice recognition software.

The IRS also offers customer service assistance for persons who are deaf or who have hearing disabilities. People with TTY equipment may call toll-free 800-829-4059 for assistance.

People who are unable to complete their tax return because of a physical disability may get assistance from an IRS office, or through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA) sponsored by the IRS. Taxpayers can find a nearby location by calling 1-800-906-9887.

The Oregon Public Utilities Commission (PUC) is offering Android and iOS tablets to qualifying Oregonians with a loss in hearing, speech, vision, mobility or cognition.  Contact the PUC with questions about your eligibility and the application process.
