Suggested lead: Another state furlough day means DMV offices will be closed

SALEM – Friday, April 19 is a state furlough day in Oregon. Lots of state offices will be closed including DMV offices.
House: All Oregon DMV offices including headquarters will be closed for the ninth of 10 statewide furlough days on Friday, April 19. The tenth of the furlough days in this biennium will be Friday, May 24. :13
Public Information Office David House suggests planning ahead to schedule your visit to Oregon DMV so you don’t show up on April 19 when the offices are all closed.
House: DMV recommends that people visit the office well before the Thursday or well after the Monday before the closure or after the closure because DMV lines tend to be a little longer right before or after a weekend, especially a three-day weekend or a holiday. :16
To locate DMV offices and hours of operation, plus find out if you can do your transaction online or via mail instead of in person, House recommends visiting OregonDMV.com. You can do that just about anytime, anywhere.
Reporting from Salem, I’m Shelley Snow.
