Suggested lead: The upcoming statewide furlough means DMV offices will be closed for a long weekend.

SALEMAll Oregon DMV offices, including DMV headquarters, will be closed for the statewide furlough on Friday, May 24 and for the Memorial Day holiday on Monday, May 27. What that actually means is that you might want to plan ahead.

House: DMV customer wait times tend to be longer just before and after furloughs and holidays so we would suggest customers try to avoid their business at DMV right before and right after this 4-day weekend. :14
Public Information Officer David House advises customers to first visit OregonDMV.com, where you can find important information before your visit, or you might even discover you can take of business without visiting a DMV office.
House: They can also do some transactions such as renew the tags on their car, or sometimes travel trailer or motorhome, as well. They can change their address and they can report the sale of their vehicle to DMV online as well.
Reporting from Salem, I'm Shelley Snow.
Extra actuality:
House: We always suggest that you visit OregonDMV.com before visiting a field office in person because you might be able to do that transaction online or you can download a form and perhaps do it by mail and save some time and gasoline. :13
