We are building the DMV of the future

We are calling this change to the way that we do business the Service Transformation Program.

In this effort, we are:

  • Replacing our outdated computer systems and updating business processes to make DMV more efficient; and
  • Working to deliver enhanced service capabilities – including more online services.

On July 6, 2020, DMV successfully completed the replacement of our computer systems – on time and on budget. Our transformation doesn’t stop with new technology. DMV has turned our attention to other ways we can innovate our service delivery to take advantage of modern ways to do business.

We are dedicated to providing the excellent customer service that you have come to expect from us during this time of change. Part of that is making sure that you, our customer, continue to be our focus.  We will provide chances for you to tell us what you want to see at the DMV of the future.

We are always looking for ways to improve how we serve our customers. So far, the Service Transformation has delivered:

  • More online services. DMV has added additional services at our new online services website DMV2U;
  • New point-of-sale equipment for more convenient and accurate transactions;
  • A new computer system to replace our current system – which was built in the 1960s; and
  • Real-time updates so that agencies like law enforcement can access information as soon as it is added to a vehicle or driving record.
