About the task force
House Bill 4063, signed by Gov. Kate Brown on April 10, 2018, names ODOT the state’s lead agency on automated vehicle policy (as recommended by NHTSA). It also directs ODOT to facilitate a task force on automated vehicles and report to the legislature with legislative recommendations by September 2018. Initially, the Task Force on Autonomous Vehicles looked into how AVs intersect with issues including licensing and registration, insurance and liability, law enforcement and accident reporting, and cybersecurity.
On Sept. 10, 2018, the task force voted on and approved its 2018 report to the legislature; it also voted to continue its work into 2019, as allowed by House Bill 4063.
