    Geometronics is part of the Technical Services Branch, Traffic-Roadway Section, serving the project development and construction engineering businesses of the Oregon Department of Transportation. The Geometronics Unit includes five Groups - Survey Operations, Geodetic Control, Photogrammetry, Right of Way Engineering, and Maps and Plans.

Remote Sensing Group

New Geometronics Manager/Deputy Chief of Surveys 
Born and raised in Klamath Falls, Joe Thomas is a graduate of Klamath Union High School and Oregon Institute of Technology in Klamath Falls, with a BS in Civil Engineering Technology (Survey Option). Joe has worked for ODOT for over 30 years, beginning his career in the Roseburg Construction Office in 1985 as a Construction Inspector. For more than 25 years he worked in several construction positions, including 11 years as the Construction Project Manager (PM) in Medford. His most notable project was the $72 million South Medford Interchange project during his time as the Medford PM.  Joe then served for five years as the Region 3 Survey Manager, during which time he also managed Right of Way and Utilities for three years before beginning the position as Geometronics Manager/Deputy Chief of Surveys on January 1, 2016.  Joe has been a licensed Professional Land Surveyor for over 23 years.
