As of November 15, 2019, examination candidates wanting to obtain permanent licensure as a Respiratory Therapist are no longer required to appear at the Health Licensing Office to take the Oregon Laws and Rules examination. The new Respiratory Therapist Oregon Laws and Rules examination is administered through iLearn, an online examination portal which can be accessed through the internet.

You are invited to review the proposed rules and submit comments from October 1 through 9 a.m. on October 28, 2019.
During the 2015 Legislative session, Senate Bill 230 was enacted, adding respiratory therapists and polysomnographic technologists to the list of health care professionals who must provide certain demographic and practice information prescribed by the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) to renew their license. This information is collected through an online survey that is sent directly to OHA. Currently other health care professionals, including licensed dietitians, who are required to provide this information pay a $2 fee annually, which is collected at the time of renewal.
