National Guard to provide potable drinking water
Klamath Falls, Ore - At the request of Klamath County officials, the Oregon National Guard will provide potable drinking water for areas hardest hit by the drought in Klamath County. Water dispensing units will be placed in three distribution points, designated by Klamath County Emergency Officials.
Distribution will begin no at 9:00 A.M. on Monday, 16 July and will be placed at the following locations: Malin Fire Dept/City Hall, 2307 3rd St., Malin; Merrill Community Center, 300 E. 1st St., Merrill; and Klamath Irrigation District Office, 6640 KID Lane, Klamath Falls.
The water will be stored in 400-gallon water trailers with a small drain spout. Residents will need to provide their own water collection and storage vessels. Colonel John Adkisson, commander of the 173rd Fighter Wing at Kingsley Field said, "This is an opportunity for us assist our neighbors who are in real need during this drought and we look forward to this mission".
