1st Battalion, 162 Infantry receives mobilization orders
Salem, Ore. - The Oregon Military Department received notification of the mobilization of the 1st Battalion, 162nd Infantry headquartered in Forest Grove, Ore. Lt. Col. Joe Cramer is the commander of this battalion with units located in Forest Grove, St. Helens, Hillsboro, McMinnville, Gresham and Salem. This presidential callup in support of Operations Noble Eagle/Enduring Freedom places 670 soldiers on federal active duty. They have been ordered to report to their mobilization station at Fort Carson, Colo. by February 13, 2003. Their final duty station is unknown at this time.
Since the callup is so large, Maj. General Alexander H. Burgin, The Adjutant General has been granted the authority to involuntarily transfer soldiers and equipment from other units in order to meet the mission requirements. This requirement could be for specific types of military occupational skills (MOSQ) of a certain leadership rank requirement.
Due to this, soldiers from the 2nd Battalion, 162 Infantry headquartered in Cottage Grove, Ore. will be used to augment the 1st Battalion.
