Earth Day Fair set at Stayton Middle School
Stayton, Ore. Approximately 250 5th and 6th grade students will attend an Earth Day celebration at Stayton Middle school today put on by the school and sponsored by the Oregon Military Department Environmental Brach in Salem.
There will be hands-on exhibits and displays based on educating the students on environmental awareness and National Guard environmental stewardship. Educational packets will be handed out along with T-shirts and seedlings to each student. There will be display booths on composting, worm farming as well as the Oregon Army National Guard’s environmental stewardship and community service programs.
Hands-on displays will include global warming, disaster clean-up a world map to teach about gulfs and bays, a computer lat set up to an EPA website for recycling, an educational trivia game with prizes as well as competition among the classes to win worm farms.
