Anderson Readiness Center Dedication Set
Salem, Ore. - On Saturday, June 21, 2003, at 11 a.m. the new joint emergency operations and military center in Salem, Ore. will be dedicated as the “Maj. Gen. Donald N. Anderson Readiness Center”. Members of the media and the public are encouraged to attend this dedication and to tour the facility.
Congresswoman Darlene Hooley; Governors Representative, Craig Campbell; Deputy Assistant of Defense for Reserve Affairs, Ms. Patricia J. Walker; The Adjutant General, Oregon National Guard, Maj. Gen. Alexander H. Burgin; Superintendent of Oregon State Police, Ronald C. Ruecker and Brig. Gen. (Ret.) Staryl C. Austin Jr. will preside over the Dedication and tours.
This joint venture is a project based upon the integration of state and federal resources. The core agencies for managing emergencies are the Oregon State Police and the Oregon National Guard. In addition, this facility also houses the Office of Emergency Management, Oregon State Police Northern Command, the Law Enforcement Data System and the Oregon Department of Transportation Northwest Transportation Operations Center and the Department of Corrections.
This facility will enable the State of Oregon to more effectively serve its citizens in times of Natural or man-made disaster or civil insurrection.
