Governor Kulongoski to oversee 1042nd Medical Company's Demobilization Ceremony
Unit named “Best Aviation Unit in the Army National Guard” to be ceremonially demobilized after return from Afghanistan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Fort Bragg.
Salem, Ore. - On Saturday, July 12, 2003, the 1042nd Medical Company (Air Ambulance) will be officially demobilized from their successful tour of duty in support of Operations Enduring Freedom, Desert Spring and Iraqi Freedom, much of which was performed in Afghanistan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Iraq.
The ceremony, designed to officially recognize the achievements of the unit before it returns to its traditional status in the Oregon National Guard, will be held at 11:30 a.m. at the Army Aviation Support Facility (AASF) located at 1921 Turner Road S.E. in Salem, Ore. Families, friends and members of the media are encouraged to welcome these citizen-soldiers home after serving their country for almost one year.
Honored by the Army Aviation Association of America as the “Best Aviation Unit in the National Guard,” the unit has shifted its focus to search and rescue and fire suppression efforts.
