Keizer, Ore. - On April 22, 2004, the Oregon Army National Guard will sponsor their 2nd Annual Earth Day event to be held at Kennedy Elementary School located at 4912 Noren Avenue in Keizer, Ore. The 4th and 5th grades which consist of approximately 160 students will be the recipients of a fun-filled environmental awareness day. The festivities will begin at 10:30 a.m. and will conclude at the end of the school day.
During the event, students will participate in eight different interactive educational booths. The booth themes range from Global Warming, Composting, and Water Cycle to an Environmental Brain Teaser trivia game. Each packet contains several earth-friendly ideas with instructions the students can do at home. Along with all the hands on exhibits, the Oregon Army National Guard will also have several educational and informational displays detailing other educational aspects of the environmental arena while providing the students an insight into the Environmental Program of the Oregon Army National Guard. Soldiers, civilians, and volunteers will be on hand to facilitate the day and answer any questions the students may have about the environment or the Oregon Army National Guard.
