1042nd Medical Company, Army Guard launches Blackhawk to remove man from Mt. Rainier
One UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter will depart the Army Aviation Support Facility at 08:15 on Friday, July 1, 2005 to assist in the rescue and transport of a 40 year old male known to be on the Tacoma Glacier of Mt. Rainier. The man is experiencing chest pains and believed to be possibly have a heart attack. Anticipated arrival time on the mountain is approximately 9:15. A hoist operation will take place to load the victime into the helicopter and the flight medic will attempt to stablilze the man prior to transport to Yakimas Memorial Hospital.
The Blackhawk will be piloted by Major Mark Ulvin and Chief Warrant Officer 3 Greg Schroeder, Crew chief is Sgt. Tony Trentz with flight medic of Sgt. 1st Class Travis Powell.
A backup crew and helicopter is being assembled in the event they are required.
