Oregon citizen-Soldiers return from Afghanistan
Fifteen citizen-Soldiers of the Oregon National Guard will fly into Portland International Airport Aug. 2 after spending a year in Afghanistan.
The Guardmembers are on Delta flight 1199 scheduled to land at about 7:45 p.m. The soldiers were members of an embedded training team that assessed the situation in Afghanistan in preparation for the scheduled deployment of the Oregon National Guard's 41st Brigade Combat Team next summer.
While deployed the soldiers were spread throughout the country and embedded into Afghan National Army units. They served as advisors to the developing ANA.
