Introduction of Media Engagement Team (MET)
The Media Engagement Team (MET) leader for Afghanistan has contacted the Oregon National Guard Public Affairs Office to seek our assistance to get stories about our guardsmen and women to civilian media. They accomplish this by setting up personal conference calls between service members with a story to tell and interested print and broadcast media.
The Oregon National Guard currently has two units serving in Afghanistan, the 1042nd Medical Company (Air Ambulance) based out of Salem, Ore. and Delta 113 Aviation, based out of Pendleton. The Media Engagement Team has asked us to contact media in our state and they will coordinate as many individual conference calls between the service members and civilian media as opportunities allow. They will work to get as many stories published and broadcast as they receive interview requests.
The 41st Brigade Combat Team will be in place in Afghanistan by early June and this rotation will involve soldiers from throughout the entire state of Oregon so plan ahead if you are interested in this opportunity.
Interested media should email me with their contact information (telephone numbers, office and cellular and email contacts and I will forward the information to the MET Team. Send email information to: kay.f.fristad@state.or.us
