Access to 1042nd Personnel returning to Portland Airport AMC Hangar on Sunday, Feb. 26 at 5:00 P.M.
Members of the media who are interested in gaining access to Oregon National Guard's 1042nd Medical Company personnel returning from Afghanistan on Sunday, Feb. 26 should meet in the AMC hangar parking lot located at the west end of NE Cornfoot Road. Meeting time is 3:30 p.m. The address is 4635 NE Cornfoot Road.
There will be designated parking for media vehicles in the AMC hangar parking lot. Media personnel will be briefed on the schedule of events, safe locations, and off-limit areas. Tech. Sgt. Nick Choy, from the State Public Affairs Office, will act as media escort.
The arrival of the men and women of the 1042nd Medical Company (Air Ambulance), Oregon Army National Guard, as well as their equipment is tentatively scheuled to arrive at the AMC Hangar near the Portland Air National Guard Base on Sunday, February 26, 2006 at approximately 5:00 p.m. We will keep you posted of any changes to this scheduled arrival time/date.
This unit has been deployed many times due to the critical need of medevac capability and have just completed a six month rotation into Afghanistan. Their primary mission was the evacuation, stabilization and transport of military and civilians who have been injured.
Family, friends and interested media are encouraged to be on hand to welcome them back from a successful deployment to Afghanistan. Interested media should contact the Public Affairs Office at 503-584-3917 for escort onto the facility and to arrange interviews with family and friends.
