Oregon Army National Guard launches Kiowa helicopter in support of county Search and Rescue mission
The Oregon National Guard launched an OH-58 Kiowa helicopter this morning to assist in the ongoing search for a missing 21-year-old woman over Olallie Lake near Detroit. Additionally, the Guard has a UH-60L Blackhawk on standby to extract if necessary once found.

The search opened on Wednesday afternoon. Marion County has the lead on the mission. Deschutes SAR, Linn County SAR, and Jefferson SAR units are in the field in search support. US Forest service has also been involved in the search. Currently more than 60 searchers are involved in ground search operations along with the National Guard air assets.

The Oregon National Guard, consisting of both Army and Air Force units, conducts hundreds of hours of operations yearly in support of Search and Rescue efforts of the Sherriff agencies throughout the state, Oregon Emergency Management, as well as emergency management support for disaster relief and other support to citizen safety.
