821 Troop Command Battalion of Oregon National Guard to Change Command

The Oregon National Guard will hold a change of command ceremony for the 821 Troop Command Battalion on Saturday, Aug. 11, at the Anderson Readiness Center in Salem, Ore.

The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m., with a reception immediately following. The public is invited to attend. The Anderson Readiness Center is located at 3225 State Street in Salem.

During the ceremony, current 821 TCB commander Lt. Col. Donald L. Rolph will relinquish command of the battalion to Lt. Col. Kelly J. Smothers. Rolph has commanded the battalion since 2005.

The 821 Troop Command Battalion is a command and control battalion that provides logistical support to a wide range of subordinate units. Based in Salem, the 821 currently has approximately 100 Soldiers deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
