Media and Employers invited to observe Army Guard predeployment training
This summer, 1st Squadron 82nd Cavalry headquarters in Bend, Oregon will be participating in premobilization training at Gowen Field, Idaho with the 41st Infantry Brigade Combat Team from 1 August to 24 August 2008. This training is essential for our upcoming deployment in 2009. According to LTC William J. Prendergast IV, Squadron Commander of 1st Squadron 82nd Cavalry "We are preparing for a deployment to Iraq and this annual training will help us achieve certification in the latest tactics, techniques and procedures we will use during the deployment."

The Squadron will deploy a hundred and fifty local residents of Central Oregon on the upcoming deployment in 2009. The make up of the Squadron will include soldiers assigned to units located from Bend, Burns, Klamath Falls, Lebanon and Woodburn. As we go forward in our preparation for the upcoming deployment, we would like to increase the community awareness about the deployment in our communities.

There are opportunities for the local media and employers of our soldiers to attend training events here in Oregon and at our premobilization training in Idaho. May 2nd to May 4th at BIAK Training Center, Redmond, Oregon

June 6th to June 8th at BIAK Training Center, Redmond, Oregon

July 10th thru July 13th at Gowen Field, Idaho

August 1st thru August 24th at Gowen Field, Idaho
