ORNG and the Committee for ESGR present FLIR Systems, Inc. the Pro Patria Award
Maj. Gen. Raymond F. Rees, The Adjutant General, Oregon, and Maj. Gen. (Ret.) Dan Hitchcock, Vice-Chairman for the Oregon ESGR Committee presented FLIR Systems, Inc. the Pro Patria Award May 16, 2008.

FLIR Systems not only met the basic criteria for the award, but exceeded it by taking care of Soldiers and their families. During deployments FLIR offered pay differential to eliminate any financial hardship on employees' families. Further, they continued to provide all health benefits and retirement contributions. FLIR Systems worked to contact families weekly to ensure their needs were met during deployments to include anything from lawn care and mechanical issues to moral support.

Bill Sundermeier, the President of Government Systems for FLIR Systems accepted the award.

The Pro Patria Award is the highest level Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) award that can be given by individual state Field Committees.

Only one employer in Oregon is recognized with this award each year. It is presented to those employers who demonstrate exceptional support for our national defense of adopting personnel policies that make it easier for employees to participate in the National Guard and Reserve.

The award honors the outstanding Guard or Reserve Component employer within the state.
