Oregon National Guard supports Gresham first responders
The Oregon National Guard is mobilizing troops and equipment to support first responders.

The city of Gresham requested assistance for first responders, and the Oregon National Guard will provide three military ambulances (Humvees with high clearance) to help firefighters and EMTs reach individuals who cannot be reached with civilian ambulances. If necessary, the military ambulances will transport any victims to transfer points where civilian ambulances can be used.

In addition, the Oregon National Guard will provide three Humvees to assist Gresham Police on patrols in areas requiring high clearance vehicles.

A total of 12 soldiers from the 141st Brigade Support Battalion will operate the vehicles, and support is expected to last for at least 24 hours. The soldiers are mobilized under State Active Duty as a result of Governor Ted Kulongoski's declaration of a state of emergency in Multnomah County.
