Final Jets from142nd Fighter Wing Return from Overseas Training Tour
PORTLAND, Ore. – The final three of six F-15C aircraft and their crews who fly for the Oregon Air National Guard's 142nd Fighter Wing are scheduled to return tomorrow at noon from a 30-day overseas training tour in support of Exercise IRON FALCON at the United Arab Emirates Air Warfare Center.

Of the six jets and 131 members of the Oregon Air National Guard deployed to the UAE in late October. The final three jets and crews are scheduled to arrive at Portland Air National Guard Base at approximately 12:00 p.m. Today's arrival will mark the closure of the overseas training tour.

Throughout the exercise, Guard members had the opportunity to train alongside military members from other nations. IRON FALCON was designed with the intent to bring together Gulf Cooperation Council nations plus other countries to strengthen military-to-military relationships, promote regional security, improve combined tactical air operations, and enhance interoperability of forces, equipment and procedures.

According to 142nd Fighter Wing Commander, Michael Bieniewicz the international training builds relationships and allows our pilots to maintain the skills needed for our everyday mission here at home.

The U.S. Air Force has actively participated in this multi-national United Arab Emirates Air Warfare Center course in Southwest Asia since November 2004.

Throughout the overseas training tour, men and women of the 142nd Fighter Wing have continued to stand alert here at Portland Air National Guard Base twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.
