173rd Fighter Wing announces groundbreaking for major construction project at Kingsley Field
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - Please join the 173rd Fighter Wing as Col. James Miller, Commander,  hosts a groundbreaking ceremony for the Joint Armed Forces Reserve Center building at 10 a.m., June 9, 2011.
When completed the building will house the 173rd Security Forces Squadron and Charlie Troop, 1-82nd Cavalry, Oregon Army National Guard. 
The new facility will be located near the base's recently constructed main entrance. It will include command, administration, pass and identification, law enforcement, arms vault with cleaning and maintenance areas, classrooms, training rooms, mobility storage, mobility pallet build-up area, locker rooms and adequate parking for government and privately owned vehicles.
The state-of-the-art building will replace several old buildings thereby upping the overall energy efficiency of the base, in addition to providing for better mission readiness for both the Army and the Air Guard.
Many distinguished visitors plan to attend the ceremony including U.S. Rep. Greg Walden , the Klamath County Board of Commissioners, Brig. Gen. Charles L. Yriarte - Commander, Land Component Command, Brig. Gen. Steven D. Gregg - Commander, Oregon Air National Guard, Brig. Gen. Mike Caldwell - Deputy Director of State Affairs, Oregon Military Department, Col. Eric Bush - Commander 41st Infantry Brigade Combat Team,  Chief Master Sgt. Mark Russell - State of Oregon Command Chief, Chief Master Sgt. Cindy Gauntz - 173rd Fighter Wing Command Chief, and Dr. Chris Maples, President, Oregon Institute of Technology.
