Boat Maintenance Class 

June 23 from 8:30 - 11:30, 4700 NE 78th St., Vancouver, WA  98665

The Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 78 is presenting this workshop for the new boat owner or the boat owner with limited knowledge of common preventive maintenance tasks. You will learn about routine tasks such as 4 stroke outboard motor engine oil and filter changes, and lower unit oil changes on outboard and inboard/outboard drives. Propeller changes and lubrication will be covered as will simple electrical maintenance including battery and lighting. Fuel and fuel filters is also covered.

Preparing your boat and motor for winter storage and spring seasonal use will be discussed.

What to look for in trailer maintenance includes wheel bearings lubrication aids " Buddy Bearings", trailer tire and inflation will be discussed, as will proper trailer and tow vehicle hook-ups.

There will be discussion on hull maintenance and types of boat propulsion.

This workshop is NOT intended to cover all maintenance required by boat and motor manufacturers, nor is it intended to cover complex issues that require certified marine mechanics, however it will allow you to communicate better with your marine mechanic.
