Brent Canode, MPA

Brent has served as Executive Director of the Alano Club of Portland for the past decade, growing the organization into the largest non-clinical recovery center in the United States. The Club utilizes the latest evidence-based programming under their Recovery Toolkit Series (RTS) brand, which spans everything from Certified Recovery Mentors, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction & Relapse Prevention training, to health and wellness seminars, exercise-based recovery programming and advocacy projects. 

Brent’s impact on the recovery landscape extends to the national level where he has held leadership positions with leading policy and advocacy organizations including Facing Addiction (National Action Council and Legislation Committee), Faces and Voices of Recovery (Public Policy Committee) and the Association of Recovery Community Organizations (Research Committee.) Brent is also a member of the Recovery Science Research Collaborative (RSRC), a think-tank comprised of recovery researchers and academics from across the country. 

Most recently, Brent was named Recovery Section Editor for the Journal of Recovery Science, a peer-reviewed journal featuring original research on behavioral health recovery. Brent holds a Masters Degree in Public Affairs from University of Oregon, where he was a Graduate Teaching Fellow in the School of Planning, Public Policy and Management.
