Nathan Gaoiran

Nate is currently the Director of Josephine County Community Corrections, where he is responsible for multiple programs aimed at making positive change in the lives of justice-involved individuals. Nate is the current vice-chair to the Oregon Association of Community Corrections Directors and serves as a Commissioner for the Alcohol and Drug Policy Commission, holding the role of Vice Chair. At his home agency, located in Southern Oregon, Nate is responsible for Parole and Probation services, Custody Alternative Programs and the Treatment division for Community Corrections. Nate holds a currently active credential of Master’s in Counseling as a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor III. He has been part of the expansion of transitional housing for people with Substance Use Disorder, the Second Chance Employment Program for individuals in recovery, Behavioral Health Services for justice involved individuals, programs to reduce debt for justice-involved people, gender-specific programming, efforts to reduce jail overcrowding, and the reduction in Oregon’s prison bed usage, yielding millions of dollars in savings. Nate has testified at the Oregon legislature for significant changes such as medication assisted treatment and advocates significantly for evidence based practices within the industry.


Prior to Nate’s current appointment as the Director of Josephine County Community Corrections, he served in community supervision as a Probation Officer for Juveniles, Adult Parole/Probation Officer, and a Program Manager. Nate has served as an Instructor at a local Community College in the School of Criminal Justice and as an Instructor at the Department of Public Safety Standards and Training. Nate has served as the Chair for the Local Public Safety Coordinating Council, is a Board Member for the Rogue Area Drug Enforcement Team, sits on the Policy Advisory Committee for Drug Court, and served on the Executive Team for Oregon Association of Community Corrections Director’s. On a national level, Nate has been a board member for the American Parole and Probation Association as a regional representative for Oregon, Idaho, Alaska, Montana and Washington. Nate holds a Master’s Degree in Management, a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology, and a Minor in Mathematics with an emphasis on research and statistics.
