Sheriff Patrick Garrett

Sheriff Pat Garrett was raised in Salem, Oregon. He graduated from Oregon State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish in 1987, and later earned a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Portland State University. Pat was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army in 1987 and remained in the Army and Army Reserve for 25 years. After 9/11, Pat was mobilized in for one year to the Plans and Policy Directorate at United States European Command, Stuttgart, Germany. In 2007, he served for one year in Baghdad with the 4th Brigade, 1st Infantry Division on a Provincial Reconstruction Team. 

Pat began working at the Washington County Sheriff’s Office in 1988 as a recruit deputy sheriff and has served at every rank. Pat’s professional education includes the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia, and Harvard’s Seminar for State and Local Executives. Pat is serving his second term as Sheriff. He resides in Hillsboro, has been married to his wife Coleen for 31 years, and they have two grown children
