Condon State Airport [3S9]

The City of Condon is located in the north central part of the State of Oregon in Gilliam County.

Condon State Airport, formerly called Pauling Field, is situated on 20 acres, one mile east of the community and is owned and operated by the ODAV.

Nearby attractions include the Depot Museum and the John Day Fossil Beds National Monument. The Depot Museum is located in a former Union Pacific Depot and exhibits a reconstructed log cabin which was built in 1884, a school house from 1910, and a tonsorial parlor from 1900. The log cabin is on the National Register of Historic Places. The John Day Fossil Beds National Monument, spanning 50 million years, preserves some of the richest fossil beds in the world.

Recreation, tourism, and agriculture play a major role in the region's economy. Condon State Airport has one runway that is oriented in an east-west direction. This visual approach runway, Runway 7/25, measures 3,500 feet in length and 60 feet in width. The runway is equipped with MIRL, PAPIs, and REILs. The Airport accommodates 3,940 annual general aviation operations a year, of which more than 77 percent are itinerant. The Airport is the base for 11 aircraft.
